"I felt a funeral, in my Brain"

When Emily dickinson wrote this poem I think she wrote about her sorrow of a death of a close one in her life. It could be about her losing her mental capabilty to function with the overwhelming stress of a death in her life. The poem itself had a few auditory senses that brought the poem alive to the reader and also imagery of the gray bleak scence of a funeral. this poem was very personal pertaining to her personal experiences and I think that this poem was a way of expressing herself in ways that other things could not, to get her feelings and thoughts out on paper must have been a method to move on from sadness and mourning.

My first thoughts on poetry

I always seen poetry as a easy subject in middle school and throughout highschool. Even though i disliked it in all of the tests that we have done for example PSAT and other tests i never seen it as too challenging. As a Junior now i see the complexity and further analysis poems need. There are poems that i have a hard time analysing and others that come to me quickly more then others. Besides the analysing aspects of poems i find it apealing the writing of poems. Since I am interested in hip hop and rapping culture I see that and poetry going hand and hand. Poetry is going to be a interesting subject in AP LIT this year with much use of the dictionary I assume.
